One thing I have noticed is that what you take from a teacher depends a lot on your Point of Attraction and the level at which you process the information they are providing you.
In every situation, a teacher is TELLING you some things (work hard, pay the price, rah-rah-rah, for example) and they are also SHOWING you some things, whether they are conscious of this or not.
A success teacher might share some grim, tough love advice about paying the price while, at the same time, he is in a beautiful swimming pool, wearing a t-shirt and sunglasses, and clearly having a good time making memes, spreading his message, and Doing HIS Thing.
In other words, he is HAVING FUN and doing What Feels Good to him.
This is a theme that comes up A LOT among teachers and coaches, and I have found it incredibly useful to notice and understand and be aware of because it has enabled me to learn a lot from schools of thought which, on the surface, appear contradictory and unreconcilable.
There is the small “t” teaching, which are the words and dogmas and systems that the teacher communicates to you, and then there are the Big “T” Teachings, which come in the form of the gestalt of their little “t” teachings, and also the context in which those teaching occur, how the person is feeling, the life they are living, etc.
The Big “T” Teachings are all about patterns.
Little “t” here is “work hard, pay the price, do, do do!”
The Big “T” Teaching is “Find something you really believe in, that feels really great to you, that makes you feel good about yourself, and repeat that to yourself over and over and over again and immerse yourself in the enthusiasm of a life that is pleasing to you.”
Successful teachers are marketing their lives to themselves as much as they are marketing to anyone else.
They are “selling themselves” on a view of reality that feels quite good to them, and it is in the way that they serve as a good model for someone who wishes to do the same.
The honest and conscious teacher might say:
“Do as I say, not as I do.
What you do does not matter.
Do not Do as I Do, and Do not Do as I Say.
Feel as Good as I Feel while Saying and Doing what I Say and Do
and Allow your own uniquely inspired Doing to flow
from your own unique and powerfully creative Good Feeling.”
As we are clever enough, tuned in, tapped in, turned on enough, and as our Point of Attraction allows us to perceive all that is of benefit to us, we find that we are able to learn anything we wish to know from anyone who happens to be in front of us. <3
